Should I install my RMA Hard Drive?

Okay, so I have a Maxtor 60GB Hard Drive. A couple days ago, during boot up, I get a S.M.A.R.T. status BAD, backup and replace. I send for an advanced RMA request, meaning I get another hard drive before sending mine out. Well, today, I get the "new" one. At the same time, the one in my computer doesn't get the Bad status message anymore. Weird, it fixed itself or something. Is that normal? And should I spend the trouble installing the other hard drive and reinstalling all my softwarE?

Thanks.

I would install the new one. You do not have to reinstall anything. Just use Maxblast and clone the drive, takes about 15 minutes.
The software can be downloaded from maxtor's web site.

NO there are versions for the hard drive types though. Check on the website. I think the newest one will work from 95 to 2000 win32 I cloned a lot of drives with win 95 on them
