Should I install DirectX 8?

The bottom line is 50/50 on this, some Members have had problems ,while some like myself have not, so it`s up to you, remember it`s your system so you are in charge of the final vote.

No problem here either....I've been running my dual boot system, ME/W2K with Creative Geforce2 GTS and SB Live, with DirectX8 since they were released, no problems at all so far.

W/Best regards,
Ivar

I didn't have any problems with it in Win98SE, but under Win2K it did manage to produce Z-buffer errors at times, but I have no idea why.

I look at it like this. Until there is a game that requires me to have DirectX 8, I'll stick with DX7a.

eventually youll have too as all games coming out soon will require dx8, its the same thing year in year out whenever a new version of Directx comes out...somoene always complains that the new one sucks and they want to revert back to the old one....funny how they said the same the previous year....bottom line...install it

No problems here in win98se...

When I had my AIW Radeon, all the extra features didn't work right until I installed DX8. Now I have a Radeon 64 which is nice and FASTER!!!

I agree with the other postings. Moving up is inevitable if you plan on purchasing any new games in the future. When I upgraded to the 7072 drivers, I went ahead and "bit the bullet" and loaded DX8. So far, no problems.
