From the post I am seeing theres all talk about the 2500+. I got a deal on a Gigabyte 7S748 w/ 2600+.
Do the 2500+ OC higher then the 2600+?? BTW they havent arrived yet so I dont know the stepping. ;)

well if u wanted to overclock,
the 2500 is best for its value. But they should be able to OC to about the same speeds.

2600 is prefered for people who want to run at stock. Its a good processor ;)

I've got 2 2600+s, one retail, one OEM. both do 200fsb easily without problems.

OK cool...just wanted to make sure I didnt screw up!

And yes im sure the 2600+ is locked since its brand new. Arent they all locked by default?
**EDIT: and it would'nt matter if it were unlocked. Theres no Mutiplyer selection on that board. :(

i think it all depends on luck. if you have a good chip, it doesn't matter if you have a 11 or a 11.5 multipier. i see some 2800+ that don't overclock as well as a 2500+. i had 4 bartons over the last year. only 2 hit above 2.3ghz. the other 2 only hit 2.1ghz

Every barton I've seen EXCEPT for the 2500+ could hit 2305Mhz easy. that's several 2600+, a 2700+ and 3000+.
