Should I go to Graduation?

I'm graduating from EE this year at Purdue, and I wonder if I should walk or not. I was forced to for the parents sake in HS, but I still am pissed that they made me do it, as I didn't want to, HS was super easy.

Now...I hate EE and I just want to get out of here. I am however willing to let them come down and watch me walk across the stage. Our names aren't called or anything here, so I really don't see the point, plus I hear it's like 4-5 hours, depending on who gets their honorary degrees.

What do YOU think?

Purdue does a good job with the cermonies. I graduated from there in Dec '01. You should go man...you'll (probably) only do this once in your life. Plus, put yourself in your parents shoes. If you had a son or daughter graduating from a great school like Purdue, you'd want to watch them walk across that stage and get their diploma and hand shake. If your parents had any hand in paying for your college education, you owe them that much. Even if you paid for every dime in loans, I'd give them the satisfaction anyway! :D

Do it for your parents, but graduation does suck ass.

It was by far the most boring, worthless, over-hyped day I ever wasted on something related to school.

Dude, you're still mad at your parents for forcing you to do something 4 years ago? No offense, but get over it. Anyways, just go. Your parents spent half of their life caring for you, the least you could to do is gave them the pleasure of seeing you succeed in college.

i agree you should go. i also agree it was terribly boring.

seriously, i have one of those corny pictures on the stage as i'm receiving my degree. and i think the picture itself more closely represents for me the achievement than the actual paper. not to belittle the degree, but i'll most likely show my kids or grandkids my picture when they ask if i graduated college.

If not for yourself...then at least for your parents. They deserve to see a big ceremony for all that money they wasted..er..I mean...invested...in you. :p

Hopefully LordJezo and I will still be together after school's out and he'll invite me to watch his graduation...hehe.

to me it's just a dumb ceremony and i could care less how they give me my degree. they could crumble it up in a ball and throw it through my window for all i care, i still get it and i still graduated.

the only reason i will go to mine is for my parents

i dont reallly like spending my time doing this either , but you should do it for your parents considering what they did for you. Probably not a big deal for you, but i bet they are looking forward to it.

Youre going to waste that 5 hours on something useless anyway... might as well go.

This will be the last big thing your parents can cry about in public (besides you getting married) just do it and enjoy it. Bring a beach ball.

I just transferred out of EE ;)

My dad went to Purdue for Mech. Engineering and didn't go to his graduation. It doesn't bother him one bit.
