Should I go out of my way to sync mem to FSB?

I know from experience that you should with Athlon XP machines, but what about Pentium 4? I have had no experience working with any intel machines but I heard mentioned that it's not necessary to sync the memory with the FSB in pentium machines, performance-wise. Is this true?

No it's wee bit faster @ 5:4 2-2-2 than 1:1 @ 3-3-3 or 4-4-4 or some other high variant at High FSB.

It really depends in the memory you have. 2-2-2 stuff costs an arm and a leg but PC4200 hynix stuff is extremly cheap. Natually the 1:1 offers better price/performance.

I think it'd be best to some it up to say there's not a lot of difference. I was looking at the idea of getting good high quality ram, but for the cost I personally don't think it's worth it. There are other components in my system that could better use the upgrade money :)
