Should I go for an MBA?

Ok question for any of you IT guys that might have gone down this path. I will soon have a Bachelor's in IT and am thinking of getting an MBA after that. I have a fairly stable job, and like the IT field, but with all the outsourcing these days, I am considering getting a "safety net". I figured an MBA would round me out and provide a backup career if needed. What do you think and are any of you doing this?

I say go for it. I am working on a BS in Computer Science, and when I am done with that, I'm going for an MBA. My reasoning is the same as yours, I'd like a safety net also, for a backup career later, its a decent investment.

Another angle to consider is, if you want to move up in a large IT company, an MBA will certainly help. You may get tired of "working the trenches" and want to be head of the department, or a manager of some type. Who knows, when you're 40 or so, you may want to just work in a nice office and run the place. May as well get the masters now.
