Industrial Engineering is very different from production development engineering.

If you are going for entrepreneurship or venture capital, production development engineering might be helpful because it deals with new product and technology and help you see if the new product/technology has been properly thought out and implemented.

Industrial engineering on the other hand deal with the manufacturing and the operation of existing product and technologies and help you evaluate if a mature company and plant is operating efficiently.

So you have to make up your mind on what you want to do. As far as getting the first job out of school, it's more important to pick a ranked school and get a good internship instead of worrying which area you go into.

<--- MS IE + MBA here. Management/IT Consultant out of school in supply chain and end up doing ERP in general.
