should I glue my NB heatsink on?

My old ssytem has been collecting dust for six months, I used the cpu and ram for my HTPC after the mobo north bridge mounting clips/loops/whatever popped off teh board ABIT IS7-G

I should have MRA's but don't want to pack it up. I'm thinking about getting some AS adhesive and a thermaltake chipsetcooler like this http://store.yahoo.com/svcompucycle/thermaltake-nb1.html

can anyone think of a downside to it? could I get a zalman NB cooler and run it fanless or does the *^% northbridge need more cooling?

Its a thermalright cooler and yes should cool it fine.

edit: just noticed the link is thermaltake but it links to the thermalright cooler 😕

Does the board have two sets of clips\loops? My IS7 does so you could just use the other set of loops. Otherwise just epoxy the old heatsink on there and unplug the fan.

yes but 1 broke, I switched it to the other diagonal set and a few months later 1 more broke:disgust::roll:

so now I have 2 clips on the same side...I can't use them. the old NB cooler was pretty loud and I seemed to have stability probs when I unplugged the fan
