I must be the unluckiest person every

I ordered the Dell 2001FP after all the great reviews and the deal going on.

The very first one they sent me had powering on issues and 3 dead pixels i found. 2 are totally obvious, 1 is kind of hard to see.

Then i called them and i got a replacement.

They sent me a refurb unit. It had reburb on the box and was alrdy made when i got it.
This was the worst of the 3. It had a dash on the frame and neck of the body. When i turned it on and loaded up windows. i found 5 dead pixels. And then worst yet when every i had a gray or light blue background up. There is a Long Veritcal PURPLE line on the left side. It goes from the top all the way to the bottom. It also looked like someone cleaned the screen with a stick as there are staches on the screen!!

Then i called up and got another one sent to me.
This one was brand new but as soon as i turned it on i saw a green dot and two red dots, windows wasnt even loaded yet.

So i called again and they sent me yet another one but yet again it is a refurb and it has the same problem as the brand new one expect it has FIVE COLORED dots, 2 green and 3 red!!!!

What should i do just ask for a refund or yet again get a replacement.

You should send the monitor to me and forget about it. :) :p

But, failing that, I'd probably try one or two more times to have them replace it. I sure as hell wouldn't spend $700 on a faulty product...

3 dead or stuck pixels out of 1,920,000 doesn't sound bad, you should have considered keeping that one.

Sounds like you might need to spend a few hundred dollars more and buy locally at some shop that will let you try out the monitor before going home. Otherwise you could go through another 5 or 10 more monitors before finding one that's absolutely flawless.

The first one had powering issues. It would not start sometimes and when it did start sometimes it would have a all blue line screeen. Very odd problem.

this is not my first LCD, i never had any problems with a generic one or a samsung.

i would not mine to much 1-3 dead pixels, but colored ones are just horrible. they are they ALL the time right in you face. espcially red and greeen. as much as i like X-mas, i dont want to see it year long!

Maybe I'm cynical but I seem to be seeing more and more folk having problems with this particular monitor at this moment in time.

That's at least partly because they've been selling thousands of them to AT members with all the recent $600-750 Hot Deals as Dell closes out this monitor.

Also, 1600x1200 has 1.46 times the number of pixels as 1280x1024, so the odds of at least 1 stuck pixel are much higher.

Try the eraser trick. Take a pencil eraser and gently massage the dead pixel. I revived my only dead pixel this way.

Off topic: do you experience any lag with your LCD? I'm trying to see if I'm alone here.

That was annoying as hell to read. I'm no grammar Nazi but DAMN.
I feel bad for you as I've been lucky as hell with my 3 Sony LCDs; not a single dead pixel in any of them.

What do you mean by lag?
when i drag a window screen really fast it is not smooth looking but very choppy and jagged, thats about it. no problems in movie files yet. i havent played any games on it but starcraft. starcraft looks horrible on a LCD, i can notice its age in it=( even the icon looks old.

Agreed.

Loving my Dell, sorry to hear you are having so much trouble.

It's bad when the pixels are obvious and you spend $700+ on the display.

I went through 3 before I got a 2001FP that was perfect. I agree that spending around $700 for a monitor, it should be perfect. I would keep sending it back. I'm assuming you are using the same return procedures as me, and I found it to be rather easy. Keep trying.

I started a thread about it here.
