Should I give my sperm to a 42 year old lesbian?

I'm serious.
I just got asked if I would do this. Apparently there's this 42 year old lesbian that desperately wants a kid. She has been going to the sperm bank for a while and at 800 bucks (CND) a pop she can't afford it anymore. I don't see any reason not to help her out, apparently though, all the other guys that were asked either wanted to have a role in the babies life or didn't want to do it .. the straight guys were all, "My sperm, belongs to me, no give away" .. and the gay guys wanted in some way to have a role in the life of the child. I don't want a kid, I'm thinking total anoniminity (sp?) .. the logistics and legalities are a bit blurry right now, so more info will be dug up. Basically though, this would be a 'grassroots' approach, turkey baster style. I'm not grossed/weirded out by it. I think the idea is cool and it's good to help someone. On the other hand, there might be legal issues to consider, ethical ones too, none of which I have issues with (yet). What are your opinions?

I know a lot of you will probably think this is weird. My opinion on doing weird sh!t is like this; Doing weird sh!t, going off the beaten trail makes life interesting and fun.

Well for me personally I would find it hard to know that I was the "father" to a child that I may never meet and will surely never have any input on. It would just seem weird to me.

as long as emotionless sex and the possibility of having a child you don't know doesn't bother you, and she doesn't have anything catching, i don't see why not

No sex involved. No, having an anonymous kid doesn't bother me one bit. It's only mine if I spend time with it, such is my personal stance on it anyways.

As long as you can handle the emotional impact of knowing that the prodigy of your seed is out there walking around without you raising him/her, then I say go for it.

But then again, I really have no problem with sperm donors and/or surrogate mothers and the like.

My thoughts, too.

Don't give up your seed unless she gives up the booty.

A good rule to live by.

Hmmm I wouldn't. During Freshman year there was some company paying college kids $150 for sperm. My roommate and I were short on cash, and considered doing it. Getting paid to fäp to a pron magazine sounds like a good deal to a college kid short on cash. Ultimately I decided not to, because I wouldn't want some kid showing up on my doorstep down the road when I have a family, and go, "I'm your son"

There should be plenty of kids for the lesbian to adopt.

Make sure she throws the turkey baster away after use.

How can you be sure that you won't be liable for child support down the road? After all, your identity is known to the mother. Even if she agrees not to want it, who knows if a court-appointed lawyer might someday decide to jump in on the child's behalf?

What if the child has some genetic ailment and needs family medical history, and shows up at your door one day?

That's the only thing I'm worried about. That's why I'de have her get a lawyer and write up papers for signage.

edit: I also wouldn't give her any personal info that might be trackable, ie, name etc .. maybe just my first name. She really wants to raise the kid herself, she doesn't want the father to have anything to do with it, that's why she's having problems finding a donor.

There was a court ruling recently (not in the US, it may have been Canada, but I don't remember for sure...) where a sperm donor was found liable for child support. It was a situation much like this, & the prospect of that is frightening enough to scare me away.

Yeah, this is my only concern ... anyone think that well written legal papers would help here?

I mention that because it's relevant in that she has no interest in a male partner, kind of puts the single mother minus man thing in perspective in this case.

Don't do it. If she can't afford $800 for in-vitro, she won't be able to afford a child either. Besides which, the very idea that despite being 42 (not too old to give birth, but definitely pushing it), is a lesbian, doesn't want male involvement in the process of child-rearing, and is unwilling to look at adoption (probably for very selfish reasons) makes for a very poor candidate for motherhood.

I'd stay away from this situation. There's absolutely no good which can come of it for you.

get her to pay for a lawyer to write up papers that are signed by both of you, that should cover you.

also, i'd get a bj out of it...."i have trouble doing it without some assistance".....it's worth a shot ;)

If she can't afford to buy spermsicles from the jizz bank, how can she expect to afford raising a kid?

If she's single, would you knowingly contribute to a kid being raised by a single mom?

This whole situation is just... messed up...
