I tried BGI, but thought it was way too hard. I was having fun, playing along, until I met some chick who took me like 5 tries to kill. Then, I kept getting SLAUGHTERED inside the first real dungeon!!

Anyone of you veterans think I went out of order, perhaps? Maybe I skipped something, and the monsters were too hard. Or perhaps I suck.

I love the FF series, and have enjoyed every RPG I have ever played up until BGI. I keep looking at how cool BG2 looks, but am afraid I will fall to the same prob I did in the first.

I played both and they are damn good but I liked the second one better. :)

BG2 is a great game.
Do you have any responsibilites that you need to attend to?
If so, don't play it. ;)

Well, one nice thing is that you start out at level 6 or so depending upon the class that you choose. Since you start out halfway high level you don't have to worry about an annoying little war dog wiping out all 6 of your hitpoints in one shot. But, since you do start out at a higher level, you will run into higher hitpoint monsters as well.

Best advice I can give is to play a "multiplayer" game by yourself using 5 of your own characters and only picking up the NPC's to finish specific quests. If you play single player the only character you can bring in is your protagonist and you don't really have much variety.

With your characters starting out so high level, you can have a halfway competent mage, cleric, and thief, as well as an archer and a fighter to make a fairly powerful group. For your first time playing, make a Cavelier. They are one of the strongest player characters in the game and offer some of the best "skills" for just starting out.

I think you'll find BG2 much more enjoyable than BG1.

I`ve played both & BG2 is better in many ways, it has a better journal then the first one so you won`t get lose or won`t know what to do next, the key to any RPG game is be patient if your characters are weak then find easier enemys & build them up,I`ve actually finished BG2(never could finish BG)without cheating so if I can do it I`m sure you can.In my books BG2 is a must buy.

This game is SOOOO freaking addicting. My only peeve about it, is it is somewhat hard. (I might have gone to a dungeon too early.... some guy's tomb where there is that firkrag dragon guy).. and I couldn't get through it, but when I went through when I had to do those "sun rituals" it was a cinch. Anyways, you can always turn down the difficulty (but I don't want to do that because I want to have the honors of saying "I beat the whole thing without changing the difficulty") This game has many more options/spells/weapons than BG1 and you can play inn 800X600. I would definitely reccomend this to any RPG player.

YES! It is a really cool game.

I also really liked Planescape:Torment a lot. ONly play that if you like reading though, as it plays like a book sometimes. But It was a really cool story.

FF couldn't compare to BG series. BG2 is real good. Play it only if you have spare time though :D
