I recently bought a 42 inch LG 720P hdtv and I'm considering upgrading to Time Warner's HD package. the HD DVR Moxi costs $13.99/month rental. I switched from the variety tier to hd tier so my extra costs is only the extra 8 bucks or so for the equipment. I have my desktop in my room for dvr-like functionality. I have a tv tuner etc so I can just use my pc as my dvr/entertainement center.
Time warner says I can't get HD without their STB. is the hd picture really worth the extra costs?

does your tv have an OTA QAM tuner? If so, try hooking up an antenna first and see how many HD channels you can pick up for free.
