I play with my siblings and their friends mostly, usually 4-6 of us, never for money. How big a difference would I notice between these and clay chips? They're 11.5 g, "Hi-grade composite resin," and "perfectly molded with no imperfections." Also, what amount of each color would you get? (Note that they come in increments of 50, and black isn't available.)

meh, they're pretty generic and since yo'ure not a hardcore poker player, just get em....youd on't need any expensive kinds.

However, poker chips nowadays can be had at like 500 for $20.

Where? I looked at some stores, and I could only find lower-quality, lower-count sets for more money.

I don't know man...buying a set of poker chips is a really really big decision. I suggest you take a few days, think hard, go over your pay stubs, balance your checkbook, shop around, and make sure you are getting the best poker chip set for your money. Also, it wouldn't hurt to have a poker chip set inspected by a poker chip set expert before you buy it.

No, if you're not playing for money you're not playing poker, so why on earth would you need poker chips? Use M&M's or pretzels as markers.

Instead of spending $20 on that set just go to the bank and get 2000 pennies.

I know, it is a pretty big deal, but with ATOT and the power of prayer on my side, I feel I can make a good decision.

That's a good poker chip set. We use it all the time when playing (friends and I).
Cool. Are you sure it isn't the clay set though? There's a clay set that looks exactly the same (in fact, the site I linked uses the same image for both, which is why I'm not sure about the quality of the non-clay chips).

That's a silly thing to say.

I tried.

What's the main difference between clay and non-clay chips, assuming the quality is the same. Just a different feel? (I've never played with clay chips.)
