Right now I have an Alpha Pal6035 HS w/ a delta fan. And when I have IE and winamp open Im sitting around 48C and I crash around 52C. I was looking at this HS. It was just reviewed by HardOCP and it tied for the best. I was thinking about getting it to replace the one I have now. Would that help? I also bought Artic Silver but I couldnt get it to work well because my shim was too thick or something(I made the mistake of taking off the rubber feet so I could use the shim). Should I just get a better shim or something?
thanks,

I think you should get the Thermalright SK6, also recently reviewed on HardOCP in their recent HSF roundup
Link here
Just a suggestion :)

I doubt that the Alpha is the problem, more likely the shim is preventing good contact with the processor. No matter what sink you use, that shim has to go. if you still have the rubber feet, try sticking them on with a thin layer of rubber cement, then attaching the Alpha using artic silver. If not, get a different shim.

What are you using between the sink and the processor now?

Shims suck, there's just enough variation in the chip manufacturing process to make 'em too short, useless, or too tall, worse than useless.

Just one old guy's opinion, take it or leave it.

yeah im pretty sure an alpha pal6035 can handle a 900Mhz T-Bird and then some, especially with a delta

honestly Im sick of spending money on new heatsinks and stuff. With all the money Ive spent I could have just dropped $125 all at once and gotten a water cooling system. Oh well. What Id really like to know is if anyone knows where I can get some replacement rubber feet? Anyone?
thanks,
