i am talking about the A8N-SLi premium. i have a few questions

1: will a Xclio 450 watt power supply be able to power a sli system.
2: is this motherbaod worth it if i am not going to sli

Hi, welcome to the forums ...

1) Yes, the XClio 450W PSU should be enough to power an SLI system (2 X GF 6600GT).

2) This mobo's been running in my current system since Jan 2005 stably without any issue.

If you're not going to go SLI, then there's the ASUS A8N-E, which is based on the NF4 Ultra,

but if the price differential isn't that much between the A8N-SLI Premium and the A8N-E,

then it's probably worth getting the A8N-SLI, since it has more features compared to the A8N-E

Well, AFAIK, the main difference are (other than the 1 xtra 16x PCI-E slot):

The A8N-SLI Deluxe has 4 extra SATA connectors, 1 extra Gigabit Ethernet port, and firewire ports.

So if you think you can use all these extras, then maybe it's worth the extra expense, but otherwise, just go with the A8N-E 🙂

i know that they are almost the same but i am talking about the premium. and the main thing that i wanted is the firewire

Yeah, with the Premium, at least you have the added bonus of less noise coming from the mobo chipset, compared to both the A8N-SLI and A8N-E, as it uses heatpipe cooling for the chipset, but it's quite a bit more expensive.

i only have a pci video card right now. will the board work with a pci video card not express. and i also only have pc2700 ram right now. i don't plan on overclocking yet so would it be ok and can i run dual channel with pc2700

I think the board will work with a PCI card. Don't expect to do insane gaming or anything. And yeah, you can run at PC2700. By all means, go for it! A noiseless solution is excellent. The fact that the ASUS A8N-E's got the faulty fan, AND its lack of firewire make it a big turnoff.
