Should i get this card or wait???

Hi it all comes down to this after many months i have choosen that my Video Card is gona
be a BFG 6600 gt oc 128 pci-e.

But bfore i go out and buy this card i thought i would just come to one of the best fourms
and finally close this case, which is about wheather i should get this this card now at future shop for 199$ can (before tax and after the mail-in-rebate) or should i wait till next year Jan/June cause there just might be the posibility that either one of ATI's X800
range will drop or BFG's 6800 range will drop???

I have been also thinking of getting a PS2 for 160$(ex tax), if any one has any opinion on my choices please let me know.

The main games that i will be playing will be Diablo 2(With its expansion), UT2004, Half Life 2, Need For Speed UN 2, Tribes Vengence, Doom 3, Quake4, Dawn of War,...(For the PC)

I think you get the idea.

But when i do play these games i want to be able to play it at least have the graphic options set from Med to High on the PC.

So if it would be better to wait then i will wait for that card, i would really like any help on this topic.

I cannot comment on the video card since I myself, dunno much.
But ps2 for $160 tax is pretty expensive and since ps3 is coming out next year spring, it'll be best to just wait.
And Xbox 360 is coming out Tuesday 22nd November 2005.

Ok...first of all PS3 will be coming out spring 2006, but that is in Japan. PS3 wont be available in the US til fall 2006 at the earliest. I'm not going to turn this thread into a ps3 vs xbox 360 war, so ill end it there.
Anyhow, back on topic, 6600gt for $200 is in no way a good deal you can get that x800 refurb from ati for $179. Thats much better.

Do you really think that the PS2 or even the X800 line and BFG 6800 line would drop in price much.

And well the only reason i asked about the PS2 was i was gona get a 9550 256 agp for another pc and i decided not to cause i was gona spend 170$ can on that card i could add some more $$$ and get cool BFG6600 gt oc.

Also i was gona get the BFG 6600gt oc pci-e at AUG.

I decided to waited a while then buy the card, it was at future shop for $339.99can.

This cards price keeps on jumping from $339.99can to $199.99 can in the same shop.

I know it sounds strange.

Any way it got me thinking if this card can drop that much then if i were to wait a while
i could get a really wild card from 'BFG'.

Overall i could proberly wait till next year(Max June) but any longer then that would be VERY BADDDD!!!!! 🙁

Then again i don't wana buy a card now and then next JAN find out that for the same price i paid for My BFG 6600gt oc 128 pci-e , i could have gotten a BFG 6800 card...

Again i will say that if any one else has any views on this topic

don't get the PS2, either wait for the XBOX 360 if you really want a system or if u can wait, choose between the 360 and PS3. don't wait to get a card in june/july. if you think it'll get cheaper, duh. everything does. you can't keep waiting and keep saying o but if i wait this much longer, it'll drop this much. you'll never get a card. wait til end of december, at the latest
 
Okay i get it, but tell me do you think that by at least feb the prices of the BFG 6800 could drop. Cause if it can i think i rather wait for that.

I believe that these forums are frequented by many people from the US.

When you write a price in Canadian Dollars, you are really asking for misunderstanding! I think you can see it clearly in this thread. I suggest that you always convert to US$ figures before posting.

I'm afraid I have no way of knowing what will happen to the prices in the future. Mind you if I did, I would be quite rich using such knowledge in the stock market!

I can only tell you what I do. I always upgrade around the holiday season if I need to when there are good deals and I spend around $200 US on a graphics card, no more. Last year, I got a BFG6800 for about that price after the rebate and taking into account the Half-Life 2 game that came with it.

Thanks to 'NAVID' a very cool person :thumbsup:, i was able to get the correct price the video card(converted from CAN to US).
