planning on gettin new wheels for my car

should i get these SSR GT1

or these SSR GT3

these wheels are constructed via Semi-Solid Forged, here's what tirerack had to say about this construction method
The ultimate in one-piece wheels. Forging is the process of forcing a solid billet of aluminum between the forging dies under an extreme amount of pressure. This creates a finished product that is very dense, very strong and therefore can be very light. The costs of tooling, development, equipment, etc., make this type of wheel very exclusive and usually demand a high price in the aftermarket. Semi-solid forging (SSF) is a process that heats a billet of special alloy to an almost liquid state and then the aluminum is forced into a mold at a very high rate. The finished product offers mechanical properties very similar to a forged wheel without the high production and tooling costs of a forged wheel. When low weight and performance are on your priority list, the SSF technology offers an excellent value. Currently only SSR (Speed Star Racing) from Japan is licensed to use this process for the production of wheels.

these wheels are really lightweight ... GT1 is 17.5 lbs each and the GT3 is 23lbs each (most other 18" wheels are 27lbs+). i heard getting lighter wheels really help in car's perfomance since its all unsprung weight. what do you guys think?

oh this is what my car would look like with GT1 wheels...except my car is red

The GT1s do look good on your car. I'm imagining the GT3s, and I think they might be too much, though I am a fan of the bling.

I vote GT1s.

GT3s are the nicer looking wheel on the whole, but I agree with Ikonomi - they might be a bit much for your GTi.

Get the GT1s.

On a hatchback with the wheels close together, i would go with the simpler design (GT1).

i think so too. but for me its a choice of gettin 17" *not so authentic SSR* GT3 rims or authentic GT1 rims. and if you are wondering what i mean by *not so authentic*, look here

im kinda wary about such a low price for such nice rims....as in they might be knockoffs and not the real deal. also the GT3 rims are 17"x7". right now i have 16"x7" stock rims and i do want wider wheels for better performance. but if the GT3 rims are authentic, i definaly will get those.

edit: also along the lines of what some of u guys were saying, the GT3 might be a little too much "bling" for my car

I like the Gt3 because they have more of a lip and are 3 piece, but i'm not really digging the rivets or whatever along the edge. SSR wheels are nice wheels, but I have read that they tend to be a bit on the soft side compared to other lightweight wheels, so bent wheels may happen more often depending on your roads. Maybe look into some HRE wheels; but be warned, HRE costs upwards of $1000 per wheel.

Those are ADR rims, not SSR. No way are you going to find SSR wheels for that price. Go with the real deal and get the GT1 if you are stuck between the two.

I've also heard that SSRs are a bit soft for a forged wheel. Rota makes cast wheels that are tough as nails (and nice looking to boot). Did I mention they're about as light as cast wheels come?
