motegi wheels suck.

wheels w/o lowering sucks too.

lower first, wheels later.

look into rota wheels. MUCH lighter, stronger, and can be cheaper.

(this is all assuming you care about weight/strength with looks being second.)

well, i like the way they look. I do need new tires too. I only have stock rims on my car now. I'm looking at $300 for new tires in about a month or so. These things are almost brand new. The car was on the road for three weeks before it went back into the shop for more mods. The guy wants 18's now. He said he will give me his coil overs too and my roommate can put them on.

What if I can get them for $500. The money isn't too much of a worry for me(still some worry). but its better buying them local from someone I know that is honest, etc. than off of eBay.

Slightly larger tires for his rims won't do a damned thing. I would get the wheels but I don't know whether the brand is good or not.

motegi wheels SUCK. They are HEAVY, WEAK, and the finish wears off quickly.

Considering the car, go ahead and buy them.

to stay with such a large rim size. :(

i have 215/70/r15 on the front now..
and 245/60/r15 rear

as for weight, he has plenty of other things in the car if this is his daily driver that weigh more and are of less use

i will put them on first and make a decision before I buy.

the car is a daily driver. I just want rims so it looks nicer and sleeker.

I'm thinking about getting an S2000 in the near future. That will be my fast car.

um. Maybe, maybe not.

Consider that (it is something like) 1lb to the wheel (rotational mass) is the same as 100lb in the car. My rota wheels weigh in at like 13lb. That means he is effectively carrying some 1100lb's more than me. blam.

and i'll use this double post to say that when I went from factory alloys (I think they were 19lbs) to the rota's i noticed a BIG difference.

100%.
it's rotational mass. It will affect the car's acceleration much more than an equal mass standing in the body of the car. His engine has to work to spin a total of how many pounds? His steel wheels probably weigh 16lbsish. We're talking 40lbs more that the little 1.6l engine has to spin.
