Looking at picking up a new TV as my DLP is getting long in the tooth. It’s also having issues with the blacks looking more like grey than black. Also at night the TV faces the room’s lightsource causing a lot of an almost blind spot on the TV, very annoying. Today I was looking at the UN55ES7500, and the UN55ES8000 from Samsung. I liked the picture a lot, but had a few questions.

As I don’t care about the camera stuff or voice activated I’m not sure the price is worth it. Are there better TVs in that price range? Is there a big difference between the model numbers that I’m just not seeing? I play a ton of games on the xbox and PS3 so would these TVs be good for them? I heard that Plasma is better for gaming, but the TVs I saw weren’t as nice picture wise and they reflected a ton, I’m guessing I’d be facing a similar problem with my light source I currently have.

Thanks for looking, and I appreciate any advice and help I can get. I hate to buy it and then find out there was a better option for what I use.

I ended up buying the UN60ES8000 from amazon. I figured if I’m throwing this much money at a screen might as well just go for it. Amazing TV. I had some issues at first with the way people looked on it, but after a quick internet search I turned the motion blur to clear, and the “soap opera” look went away. Handles everything I could throw at it without issues. It even does 3D in Batman Arkham Asylum without problems. All around a sweet TV.

Great TV. I ended up buying the 60ST50 (Panasonic Plasma). the Samsung LEDs are great, my dad has one. But for gaming, the lag is a little bit higher than Plasma and I have traded the bright LED picture quality for gaming.
