Should I get the Sony Digital Camera F717 or another one?

I am leaning towards the Sony F717 and was wondering if there are any new models out around the same price that I should be aware of.

Thanks.

I have decided to go with this camera as well.

The photos that can be taken with it are amazing. Every review I have read loved the camera (albeit they were dissapointed in the memory sticks and batteries being proprietary).

Here is a link to many amazing shots taken with this camera.

As you can see it takes stunning photos.

If you can find a camera that will take better photos for the price.... buy it. I have heard from owners of Nikon 5700, Dimage 7hi, who actually prefer this camera over those. That is the kind of stuff you like to hear. I have done quite a bit of research so far.

Wait for the 828 which will be the 717's replacement. Or if you are willing to spend that kind of money look into Canon's new Digital Rebel. It's a Digital SLR camera at the cost of a regular prosumer Sony cam.

Another worthy option you should look into is Minolta's new A1, the upcoming successor to the 7i series. It has built-in Image stabilization ("Anti-shake" in Minolta-speak) that moves the CCD sensor instead of lens elements to counter movement.

the 717 can be found betweem $600 and $800 (full retail). i am not saying you can get it for $600 btw.

if you want something in that price range, the 717 is the best option, despite increased cost in maintenance. the memory sticks do cost more, and if you want a replacement battery, that's going to be over $40.

the digital rebel is a great choice, but added cost is a lense.
