I got a KT7-R mb as a gift (..can't return) I need to get a tbird 1.2. Question is given the RMA history of Abits, should I spring an extra 10 bucks or so for a 266 fsb verson? If my mb craps out, I'd just get one with a K133A set or DDR. If I get the 200 fsb, then I'd be stuck with a slower cpu. What do you guys think?

Personally I think they are the same cpu except AMD lowered the multiplier to 9X so it will run at the higher bus.Unlock your cpu and run it at 12 X 100 until you get a KT133A MoBo,My kt7-raid wouldnt post at anything above 110mhz. Good luck You are going to have one hell of a fast system;)

Buy the 1.2GHz Athlon w/200MHz FSB. Yes, Abit has high RMA rates but their not so high that the vast majority of their won't work perfectly fine.
And if u get the 133/266MHz FSB version your board won't handle the 133/266MHz FSB stabily so you would have to underclock it.

Besides, even with the 200MHz FSB Athlon it is a simple procedure to unlock in and set the multiplier to 9X to use the 133/266MHz FSB should you upgrade to a KT133A board in the future.

get the 200mhz fsb part....it's cheaper and will run at a 266mhz fsb by unlocking the multiplier L1 brdiges.

Yeah, since all 1.2/200's are all unlocked, i'd reccomend getting that one although since the 1.2/266's are probably more recent, they may overclock more. No one has done testing so it's hard to tell.

hey I am a fan of buying an expensive product and not messing with it. I am a minority in here. If you don't want to mess with the cpu get the one that runs at 266fsb if you want to screw with it get the other one your choice. just make sure you have it at that 266fsb it is worth it
