I'm gonna purchase a new chip/motherboard in the next couple of days. MB will be KT7-RAID; wondering what chip to get for best overclocking. Are there still a lot of unlocked chips floating around? Any good places to pick one up? What's the 'sweet spot' right now? I don't want to spend more than $300 on the chip...

I would recommend something like a 700 T-Bird, if it is locked, all you need to do is connect up the 4 L1 golden bridges with a conductive pen or a graphite penicl

I'm not worried about the chip being completely unlocked...I just want to make sure I don't get one of the new chips that don't have the unlocking pins so you can't do the pencil trick. :)

Jonny, have you tried overclocking your T-bird 1000?

Hi Jonny,

I was just wondering what kind of cooler you have with your Tbird, the ones I could find in Ottawa are all Coolermaster or other crappy-toy-kind of cooler that are probably not too good for overclocking.

Thanks!
