I also vote for 1GB. 2GB is a waste unless you play Everquest or do tons of photo/video editing. 2x512 Corsair Value Select should be more than enough.

1 GB will be fine, only will need two if playing MMO's, as someone stated earlier, or if you're using memory-intensive programs like CAD, photoshop, 3DStudio, etc.

Whoever said hard drive speeds will affect gaming performance is smoking crack. While they do have an effect, it's minimal, especially compared to GPU and RAM quality. Course, if you have nothing left to upgrade... why not 😉

Yea 1gb is fine, thats what i use and it works great. 2 - 512mb sticks of 1 - 1gb stick really depends on how many slots your motherboard has. If it only has 2 memory slots then definently go for a 1gb stick so you have possible room to add another one in the future. If it has 4 slots then 512mb running in dual is fine. If you have 3 slots ummm i dunno.. choose

i've been playing 2 games recently, stronghold 2 and vampire the masquerade bloodlines. I've been keeping an eye on the commit charge peak whislt these have been running. For Stronghold 2 it got up to 1.3 gig and for vampire it got up to 1.5 gig! Unbelievable really, but it seems I need some more ram. Anyway I suggest getting 2 gigs.

i think 1 gig will be more than enough for what i do considering the game i play 24/7 is counter-strike 1.6 ( i heard AT members laugh at people for still playing this game ) but i just started two years ago so dont hate.

1 gig is enough for now, but getting 2x512 limits your upgradability. I went ahead and got 2 gigs. Maybe it's slightly overkill right now, but it will come in handy soon. Besides, RAM is not one of those thigns that changes in price all that much, so it's not going to hurt to buy it now. I'd say go w/ two.

You are getting an X800XL for CS 1.6??? My old 9500 Pro was 100FPS with that game with 1600x1200 with 4XAA and 8x AF...
