I hope I am not beating a dead horse here..I did a search but hard for me to tell if this is a game I would like

I loved PC: System shock and Deus Ex

I enjoy a good shooter but like more than run and gun...puzzles or quests are fine....

is this a combo FPS/RPG like game

FWIW I have all 3 consoles now(got the wife a Wii for Xmas)...my son uses the Xbox360...so the PS3 is mine

TIA

If you like System Shock and Deus Ex (FPS / RPG hybrids), you might also like Bioshock and STALKER Shadows of Chernobyl. Both can be had for < $10. Recently, STEAM had a sale where each was $5 (assuming you have a gaming PC, the PS3 version of Bioshock costs a bit more than $5 and unfortunately STALKER is a PC exclusive). The stalker deal has expired, but the Bioshock deal is still going on.

Another great FPS / RPG hybrid is Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines.

You would still likely be able to play Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines, for it uses the Half-life 2 engine and runs well even on old PCs. They have sales on it from time to time on steam (iirc, it goes down to $10 occasionally), easily worth far more than the $18 it is listed at right now. Unfortunately, it is a PC exclusive as well. I liked it better than Deus Ex.

Beware the Beach Mansion in Vampire. I laughed when the lead programmer of the game, Steve Moret, offered to play through that part for people if they sent him their save files.

God, it wasn't that scary, yet everyone complains about it.

Are RPG players just pansies?

It wouldn't be fair by a long shot to think that ALL RPG players are wimps. I found it scary, others did. But not all.
