Should I get another GB?

OP: you don't tell us anything about your system (other than it has 1GB system RAM), or what you use it for. Some details might provoke informed replies.

What do you hope to gain from a second GB?
 
While you are doing what you think is the most RAM intensive thing you do ona computer, do the ole Ctrl, Alt, Del to bring up the task manager and see how much RAM is being used and how much the page file is being accessed. That will tell you if you will benefit from extra RAM where you think it might or not.
 
What lucky said, except look at the peak useage in the bottom left corner of performance. That's the most RAM your machine has (wanted to) used at any time since it was rebooted. If that number is over 1GB then you'd see an improvement going to 2GB.
