Should I get an SATA raid card, or just use the ATA raid...

Topic says it all, i have an Albatron KX18DS pro it comse with Sata raid, and ata raid onboard.

Im using the Sata raid w/ 2 Raptors, so I need some backup space, im getting two 200gig HD's. Would it be worth it to get serial ata drives, and a sata raid card, or should i just go for the ata raid, and call it fast enough, maybe there is not that much of a difference?

Anyone know?

Thanks

Shawn

If it's only for backup storage, you don't need maxium performance. In fact, I'd not RAID the backup drives together in case the RAID 0 array craps out. Separate IDE HDs will be fine.

Why I do...With them RAIDed I get twice the space and better transfer speeds. Sure I run a slightly higher risk of loosing my data if a drive craps out, but I would have lost that data anyway if it was a single drive and it craped out. Besides in the 4 years of using RAID 0 in my drive, I have only once had a drive crap out on me, but that was because of a bad PSU messed up the drive.
