i'd say yes

i picked up one, mainly because of the rechargeable battery and the low price

i just use it for jogging/biking/basically exercise-related activities. it definitely does its job and i enjoy how light it is. i don't need an lcd.

And if you are using 2 computers you better make sure the mp3 files (in itunes) are on both before syncing the shuffle or you could erase your music stored on the shuffle by syncing to a new computer.
Isn't that the most annoying thing ever? I totally wiped some guy's iPod the other day when I plugged it into somebody else's computer that had iTunes on it.

hehe it wasn't me, my friend learned the hard way. At least it was only a 512 mb shuffle and not a 4 or 20 gig ipod filled with music. :D

In my instance it was me and a 20GB iPod half filled with music, which belonged to one of the principals of our largest client. oops!

NO! Read the numerous previous threads about this, most of which (if not all), I have made the case against the shuffle and for other players.

Basically, with other players you get:
- FM tuner
- Voice Recording
- A screen (yes, it is a useful feature)
- Ability to use as a USB thumbdrive
- No need for horrible proprietary software, just drag, drop, and go.

all for less $$

I'm in the market for a flash memory player. Which model is this that you are referring too?

Still need a recommendation here. What should I be looking for that's better than the shuffle?

I have a shuffle sitting in front of me here... Its not for me, but the person i bought it for wanted me to try it out and make sure it worked before i brought it to her....

Having owned quite a few mp3 players, i really do like this thing....

#1. It weighs nothing
#2. Built in USB (no fumbling for a cord which oops, is being used by another device at the moment)
#3. Incredibly easy to operate w/o looking. Something that i hated about my fiancee's sandisk
#4. VERY thin. Fits in your pocket w/o you even knowing its there or around your neck w/o any problem.
#5. Ergonimcally comfortable. Your thumb just naturally falls on the main control when you pick it up, your not reaching around the side for tiny buttons like other small players.

Honestly yes, you could get more features for your money, but i love this little thing.... It has its place in the market and serves it purpose well.

If I remember my math correctly 110>99. I'll check it out though.

Yes/no?

my first mp3 player did more than the shuffle  (diamond rio)

of course, it gives you something to do after 5 steps and u are gasping for air;) its like hey, i'm not resting, i'm just trying to find out what song im playing since i don't know what music i own:)

autofill is just a great feature for workouts. unless of course you are anal personality that makes a new playlist each and everyworkout. thats just extra work...

get a 3rd gen ipod. i'm sure the price has gone down enough that it's less than $200. or you can always buy an ipod mini. the prices of those are under $200 and aren't 20gb....

i wanted to get a 1gb shuffle, but i was disappointed in the battery life (since it had no lcd). i ended up getting a 1gb muvo tx fm... i am pretty happy with it.

basically... the main primary reason i did not get the shuffle is becuz of the battery life. i can use my muvo for 3 days (your usage may vary from mine) on one AAA battery.

Or just get the shuffle. If you don't need a screen and can live with it, it wold be for you.

Those OLED screens are sweet.

haha, my desktop computer + car battery does more than the shuffle....

I was just looking in to this. I hear that Sandisk has an mp3 player out just like the shuffle for the same price, same quality, and more features. However, I also heard that they both suffer from very poor sound quality, and any models with built-in batteries are going to have battery drain issues as they age.

Hence, I purchased a Creative Nomad Muvo TX FM. It uses a standard AAA battery, drag and drop file transfers, and has excellent sound quality (not suprising with all their SoundBlaster experience). It also seems that Creative specifically designed this to be used for workout and for active people.

This is all just what I've concluded from reviews and comparisons I've dug up, since though I ordered mine early Monday morning from Newegg, my order has not even been processed yet. :|

its basically the same as those cheapo mp3 players you see for 20 bucks sometimes except they slapped ipod on it and jacked the price up 500%. im totally serious too.
