I need an flash based mp3 player that is lite & thin and has a good battery life. Should I get the nano? I'm a little worried about the scratching/cracking I have been hearing about, has this been addressed?

what about the scratching though? Is it really as bad as everyone says? Do I need to get any accessories with it?

Yes, yes you should.

Edit-I bought one for my wife, she loves it. Yes, it gets scratched up easily but we haven't had any problems with cracked screens at least.

I actually saw one today in Best Buy.
Good freaking god.

I mean...

I'm not even sure that words convey how small it actually is.
I really really really want one.

Also, does anyone know if I would be able to access the ipod nano using Linux, or do you need to use itunes?

Apple admitted that some of their Nanos have a screen problem and promised to repair them. They claim that only a very small percentage of all Nanos were affected.

Admit it, you just want to buy one to make your penis seem big by comparison ;)

Quality matters!

That's what's nice about the 60GB ipod. Holds more songs lossless than that nano stuff in some crummy swishy sounding muckystuff. Hey it's your moola so buy away, have fun and drink some fine wine and smile.

That's what life is all about.

I simply click n drag them into my playlists in iTunes.

Walk me through this:
  • I'm at my sister's, with my iPod
  • I plug it into her Dell Dimension with a standard Mini "B" cable
  • It shows up as a drive in Windows Explorer
  • I drag her MP3 files onto it
  • I can then play those files after I unplug it
Did I get that right?

You cannot use it like a removable drive.

Well you *can* but the (iPod) won't play those MP3's they'll just be stored there.
