Should i get an Ibook Quick response needed!

Ok, here is my situation i work @ Best Buy and we have a sale going on for an Ibook for 699.99 it is for the public if any one else wants one! Here are the specs
900mhz g3
128 megs pc 133 which i will up to 640.
40 gig hd
Combo drive
5 hour battery life

Now i am just using it for office and very little photo editing. (i will do mostly on my pc) Whould this work? and what current processer is the 900 mhz g3 comparable too? My apple rep said 1.8 and i believe him just wondering? please try to respond i am out of this class in 20 mins and i want to read some messages. and i can't get on the computers again till middle of my 7th hour.

For word that computer would be decent but serious photo editing is out of the question. And your Apple rep is incorrect, a 900Mhz G3 is probably equivalent to a 1Ghz P3.

He's an Apple rep, of course he's gonna bling it up about the Mighty G4. At least ours does, plus he's a complete freak to boot, which is nice.

That CPU score is ridiculous! 1ghz equiv tops. The old G3s don't even have any kind of real floating point logic such as 3dnow, SSE. There were created in the days of the PII. I believe that the 900 MIGHT have on die cache though. It's really not a fast CPU at all.
NOT AT ALL.
1.8Ghz my @ss. Maybe a 1.8ghz
