Should I get an HDTV cable service without an HD TV?

If you have Time Warner, make sure you exchange it yourself. A tech will not give you an HD box if you do not have an HDTV. I had to switch TVs to get a second HD box while waiting on one HDTV.

If it's only two weeks, get it now, as you usually get the best deals when signing up. After you are a customer, they may charge you fees up the wazoo to add HD.

You're TV will work just fine with an HD box, it just can't tune in the HD Channels.

Try getting analog cable, and getting an HDTV with QAM. That will let you tune the normal high-def local channels (digitally) plus, with many providers, you'll also get a dozen or two digital (non-highdef) channels as well.

Works wonders in Houston. 🙂 $16 a month for dozens of digital and about 7 high defs...
