It's time for upgrade, and I'm considering the Athlon MP 1.4Ghz.
What do you think, guys?

Well, the Athlon MP 1.4ghz is listed at a couple of online vendors, but after some call arounds, it looks like they won't actually be in stock until mid to late July. If you need to buy now, I would suggest a 1.2ghz MP which will easily o/c to 1.4ghz and all MP's are coming unlocked. Also, make sure your mobo will support them.

Though the AthlonMP at 1.4GHz is listed by a few vendors it hasnt officially been released and I doubt any vendorsd actually have it in stock.

MP stands for Multi-Processor. Athlon MP is the AMD multi-process cerified CPU. Though the regular Athlons are capable of multi-processing, they are not cerified.
Also. Athlon MP's core is the exact same core Athlon 4 is going to be, plus the MP cerified.

guys, I saw at least 4 different vendors selling amd 1400mp processors at the New Jersey Tri-state computer fair Sunday 17th. They seemed a bit pricey at around $240 each on average. So YES you can buy these cpus! But the question is, whats an affordable mp mobo? I think the tyan is maybe $400, I havent checked...I just dont think its cost effective to go mp just yet...

Are you sure that those 1.4Ghz are Athlon MP? Because the lowest price for 1.2Ghz MP sells for around $230 right now.;)
