I have never called them to rescue me, but I have probably saved over $500 by using the AAA rates at hotels this year.

cool i have a 97 4runner too...never had any mechanical probs

I've been a member of AAA for a couple of years now... I only used their automotive service once... I parked my Explorer on a hill, and it decided that the more than 1/4 of a tank of fuel I had wasn't sufficient to start the engine. Three more gallons later, it started without any problem.

But... I've gotten a "discount" at almost every hotel I've stayed at, by showing my AAA card... the discounts have much more than repaid my membership.

Its worth getting the AAA card. I have been a member for 8 years now. Its well worth it. I use it from DMV transactions to discounts at stores. It works! I dont use it as much for road side help, unless i blow a tire in that case i call them to change my tire.

worth it. if your car breaks down even once, the free towing is well worth it.

they only tow you up to 3 miles (IIRC) for free, unless you get the premier/gold/whateveritis status they have.

depends on your car. if it could die at any moment, AAA membership is a small price to pay. We've had it for 2 years (since we had a 90 Accord) and never used it once. We did use them for free maps/triptiks though.

DMV transactions?

I use it for glasses, 30% off at lenscrafters, which is usually better than any of the coupons. Since our entire family has glasses... really saves.

my family has been members of AAA before i was born 😛 I've been a member myself for about 3 years now. My parents are approaching 25. We rarely use hotel discounts, shop discounts, etc. But the few times we have needed help on the road, they've been good to us.

Yes.

Ironically I joined AAA not for the automobile assistance but their discounts.

We frequently save 10-20% at hotels, amusement parks, zoo, etc.

Also their auto insurance rates are amazing, I pay $59/mo for FULL COVERAGE with comp & collision (double Oregon min. requirements). Then again I am 30, married with an ok credit score of 686 which puts me in their "tier 1" pricing.

AAA is great. i've definitely gotten my moneys worth from them. i'd recommend getting AAA plus though.
