I have a 6600gt now, and im starting to lag in my games. I have good enough psu, etc, for a new card. The 8800gts 320mb seams to be the sweet spot. My res would be 1050x1680

Any opinions?

Get the EVGA 8800gts 320 and use the step up program in 90 days or when new cards are released if they perform better.

are new cards going to be coming out in 90 days?

also- how does that step-up program work? when does the 90 days start? when you register?

buy it!

I felt/saw a performance increase on games such as GRAW, rainbow six:vegas at 1600x1200 res, and 1280x1024 res.. with all max settings.

NFS: Carbon runs at 1600x1200 with max settings flawlessly. Buy this card to play any game currently without any hiccups.
Provided you don't use vista.

I used to own a X1800xT 512MB.

every game i play works at 1280x1024 everything cranked...using the rig in my sig.

if you need to go to 1920x1200 with LOTS of AA/AF, then the 640MB would be better for you, but even my 7900GT 256MB @ 550/800 plays most games fine at 1920x1200...and thats running a pentium D 930 @ 3.0Ghz. trust moi on that.
