Should I get AFLAC?

My employer now offers AFLAC insurance through our open enrollment. Does anyone here have it? Is it worth getting or is it a rip off? The critical illness, hospital indemnity, and accident insurance are each 10-15 dollars per month.

Need way more information. Do you have a chronic condition? Maintenance drugs? What other plans are offered?

I'm type 1 diabetic, but well maintained. I'm also in my forties. I would mostly get it in case I got into an accident or got some kind of surprise major illness with long hospitalization. I already have medical coverage, and short and long term disability through my job but I thought the extra cash might be nice if there were some major event.

I was just wondering if anyone had experience with it, such as if filing claims was a PITA.

We offer it, but I don't use it. I think it can make sense if you can't afford your deductible or engage heavily in activities where you might be more accident prone. The cancer coverage seemed interesting but I didn't really look into it. All employees have been happy with the claims process.

I know someone who went in to sign up for AFLAC and tripped and fell on the way out of the office, breaking her foot.

AFLAC honored her claim as they should have.
