True Image 10 is more expensive at Newegg.

What features do I lose if I get the cheaper ($19.99) Acronis True Image 9?

For disk imaging and cloning v9 it is more than adequate.

Can I use this program on more than one of my computers? (I read that install requires inputting the serial number)

I have all TI versions since 5. 10 is faster than 9. And, if you create the full bootable CDR, you can then run it on any computer you have- Installation is not necessary. That applies to all versions. If money is important, go with 9. You'll never miss 10. :)

10 does have one operational advantage - it can do individual folders.

Hi corkyg:

Can I install True Image on more than one of my computers, or can I only install it on one computer? (different images on different computers)

You can install it on multiple computers but I think that breaks the license agreement.

You can do the exact same things in 9. We use it here at work (in fact, I was responsible for ordering it) for those exact reasons. It supports Boot CD's, and individual FILE backups as well as folders and drives. I'm betting the only thing 10 really gives you is Vista support.

And as per Ryland's comment, I can confirm that as I asked the Arconis rep that very question... you need a license of TrueImage for EVERY SINGLE MACHINE that TrueImage touches, regardless of the method you use (RIS, BootCD, Application Install, Image Restoration), whether you actually install the software or not on the machine. If you use the Bootable CD and rip a backup of a machine, you need to purchase a license for that machine.
