Hi, I am currently using a Coolermaster Hyper 212 plus on my i7 950 with two 1600 rpm fans for push pull. At stock speeds I idle at about 38c, and load at 60c with prime 95 (8 instances)
Now, I overclock just to 3.6 ghz, at a vcore of 1.1875, and my load temps are now about 65c.

Would it be worth it to spring for a Thermalright Venomous X, seeing as how my cpu seems to need very little vcore, I want to get to that magical number of 4 ghz, but will probably need a vcore of at least 1.28v. Not sure how much of a difference a new cpu cooler would make......

keep your hyper212. if you really want cooler cpu, save your money and buy decent water cooling kits. Im not talking about H50-70.

65C in Prime95 isn't that bad. Unless you're hitting 80C+, I wouldn't worry.

If you're going to upgrade, I'd grab a DH14 or Megahalems. Other than that, a full watercooling setup is the only way to go.

Thanks, I will stick with hyper 212 for now. I found out my cpu is quite stable at 3.6 with 1.1625 vcore, is running even cooler now. (All other volts low as they can go)
