Should I Get a Treo 700wx/MOTO Q?

eits

Lifer
so, i need to get a smartphone to keep track of my scheduled appointments, names, and numbers of my patients, among other things...

my carrier is sprint...

should i get the treo 700wx? anyone have any bad experiences with it? any gripes?

anyone know if sprint will allow me to trade in my katana for a treo for way cheap or something?

advice, please?

did/does anyone have the moto q? would you recommend it over the treo 700wx?

sure why not? if you do go with sprint make sure you go with a SERO plan. there are multiple threads on slickdeals and chubbywallet.

how about the 700p? winmo version has an inferior screen...if you're set on windows though, get the 700wx.

i'd rather have microsoft programs and whatnot for powerpoint slide shows and word for my class notes and everything... as far as i know, you can't get that on palm os.

700p comes with documents to go built in...meaning you can read/write/edit word, excel, text, powerpoint, and view pdfs.

*has a 700p on sprint*

i dunno... i used to have a handspring and i didn't really like how things were laid out and whatnot... i'm sure the palm os on the 700p is almost the same. i'd rather go with the windows os. plus, i can use messenger.

Dunno bout Sprint or the 700, but I have heard that there's been nothing but problems with the 750. Check phonescoop.com to see what people there are saying about it.

Stay away from the 700P. It's in bad need of a ROM update and Palm has been promising one for sometime now without delivering. Go to Treocentral.com and check out its forum. If you want a PalmOS Treo on Sprint, get the new 755P. Otherwise, stick with the 700WX. Currently, Sprint carries 3 Treos:

Treo 700P -> PalmOS
Treo 755P -> PalmOS (will be replacing the 700P)
Treo 700WX -> Windows Mobile 5

Cingular:
Treo 750 -> Windows Mobile 5 (Should be getting Windows Mobile 6 later this year)
Treo 680 -> PalmOS (pretty much like the Treo 755P except it won't work with Cingular's HSDPA 3G service)

I've personally owned the 700P, 700WX (both Sprint) and the Cingular Treo 750. The 750 was really nice and stable, but Cingular's data plan prices are just too high. The Treo 700P was and still is pretty buggy so I'd stay away from it until Palm releases the much anticipated ROM update. The 700WX was a great unit. It was stable, fast and did what it was supposed to.

If you've never used a Windows Mobile device, then the MotoQ might be ok. I think it runs Smartphone editiion of Windows Mobile which is a much dumbed down version of Windows Mobile.

i just went ahead and bought a treo... i figured that if i really wanted a newer phone, i could sell the treo and buy a used one or something.

You can do all that.
My Dad has a 700p, and it's awesome.
