Since im using the stock HU and a LOC, is it worth it to get a subwoofer level control for my new alpine amp?

no...since you are running off a stock head unit it is going to sound like crap no matter what. And you for sure don't need to be messing with your gain.

You can get an aftermarket cd player for less than $100. If you go with stock you will be amplifying distortion. Of course I have no idea what I am talking about.

personally i wouldn't waste my money on a sub unless u get a real aftermarked HU since even if you can get decent sound out of the sub. the bass will drown out the main speakers. sometimes it can work but most of the time it blows. If you a decided on going the cheap route just get a Infinity Bass Link which is already setup for your situation and comes with a bass control.

what kind of HU is the stock unit? Perhaps it is of good enough quality to merit the sub. How picky are you about bass? If it varies from song to song, then a gain control might be useful. I have gain control on my HU and it is nice.

i feel your pain on the not wanting to rip out the stock hu....gonna have to eventually look at the same considerations for the same reasons....although, i have definitely heard some locs that are incredible sounding and worth the use.
what kind of car are u looking at doing this all for?
