Should I get a new video card or save up for an Xbox360 / PS3?

I'm debating if i should pull the plug to upgrade my video card to a 7900gto (see my rig in my sig)... or just wait and buy a xbox360 or ps3.. what do you all think?

7900GTO or X1900XT for sure. You already have a great rig there, it's just missing decent graphics.

If it were me, I'd pick up the graphics card. But that's mostly just because I play PC games WAY more often than I get cravings for a console.

It depends on which you would realistically use for gaming more. If you'd sit down for a couple hours a day on your couch to play your PS3/360 then that would be the right choice, otherwise it might be a better investment for you computer.

Or you could just get a X1900XT and a Wii. Haha

The better value is definitely a console. That graphics card will be completely obsolete in 1-2 years while either of those consoles will be viable gaming machines for 6+ years.

if you seriously want a graphics card, wait till the DX10 ones ship, at the minimum.

Console.

PC games are such a PITA nowdays that I rarely play them. My current video card was $400 and I feel dumb I ever paid so much for it. My Xbox was a way better value.

There's such a dearth of quality titles on the PC that I can't really justify upgrading from my ATI Radeon X800 XT PE. BF2 was the last worthwhile title, everything else really interesting has been on the Xbox 360.

video card, you sure do not want to spend $40-60 on every game for xbox360/ps3.

I think the video card option will be a lot cheaper than to buy a Xbox360/PS3. You will have to buy games for them, as well as controllers etc. Personally, I am waiting for the Wii :D

Take a look at the games coming out for the 360, the PS3, and the PC. Figure out which you want to play more and go in that direction.

PC game may be $10-20 cheaper but your $250 video card will last 2 years or so, will give you headaches when PC games don't work because of driver issues and then when you do need to upgrade, it will be a lot more than just another video card. Meanwhile for console, the games made in 4 years will still work at 30+ fps whereas games made at that time, you will be lucky to get 15fps lowest settings on your ancient PC.

Sure the games for consoles will look outdated but at least they will work.

Also, for console games, you can sell them back to the store and recap a little of the cost. You can not do that with PC games. There is your $20 that you would have saved buying Pc games.
