I'm going to switch over to TMobile in a week or so and was wondering what phone you'd get. Right now I'm looking at the Motorola V600 or the Ericsson T610. Both seem to have very similar features... bluetooth, tri-band GSM etc. Got any recomendations? Thanks

I'd go with the V600, My T610 is acting up and it's driving me crazy. I'm probably going to get a V600 myself soon.

I don't like flip phones, so that made the decision for me.

BTW, here's a preview that should help you: Motorola V600 :)

T616 is not quadband, if you travel to Asia/Europe you might want to pick v600 (that was a big reason i choose the v600)

my T610 has been a good phone so far. i like the infrared, which i can use to download pictures to my laptop, and synch address book/calender with outlook.

go with the cheaper T610, usually offered with $200 rebate or so...

it has bluetooth, IR, small enough to fit into my jeans' change pocket, stylish, and battery lasts for about 4,5 days with some occasional usage

just remember you're getting a phone. so what if the V600 has better games or a better camera, as long as it dials and has nice reception (not veey dependent on the phone), who cares...

the only drawback i can think of the T610 is that the screen is a little bit hard to read under the sun, otherwise it is a cheap, function-packed and stylish yet small phone.

well, just beware that the T610 has horrible reception. I would definately choose the v600 even if it cost more personally. I originally signed up with tmobile and got the t610 but sold it a few months later because of the horrendous reception and ended up getting the samsung e715. If it had been available at the time, I would of seriously considered getting the Motorola V600...and almost did end up getting an unbranded one.

Thanks, now if only i could find the V600 for less than $300 somewhere.... I could get the T610 for $100 profit when i sign up for a new plan at letstalk.com. That's a big difference.... i wonder if it's worth it

I had the T610 for a week and went back to my old Moto V60. The reception on the T610 is pretty spotty

Okay, for T610(or T616), you definitely need to upgrade to the latest firmware in order to get better RECEPTION as well as louder volume. Now, T610 is GSM 900/1800/1900, but T616 is GSM 850/1800/1900. If you plan to use this phone primarily in USA, T616 is the one to get(Cingular has this model, and is usually unlocked by default so you can just put your TMobile SIM in there). If you do travel to Asia/Europe a lot, then T610 is the one to get since the GSM900 band is still very crucial.

As for V600...It was plagued(same for V400 as well) with firmware problem and slow UserInterface speed. But it's QuadBand, and if you're willing to upgrade to the latest firmware, it'll serve you better. VoiceQuality is very good, and Reception is not bad, either. Honestly, I'd go for V400 instead of V600...since I don't really need BlueTooth that much. I wouldn't bother for V300, though...that lack of 850 Band can be crucial.

One glitch for V400, V525, or V600 is that the onphone earpiece is just not loud enough, and the bluetooth headset isn't, either. However, the ordinary handsfree(I choose MOto OEM) can give you very good voice quality as well as volume. This is why I feel that you just have no need for V525 or V600.

The reception on my T610 is iffy. Sometimes I'll have full reception and than it'll just drop off for no reason. It's too spotty for me and I can't wait to change cell phones.

well... i got the T610 because i don't like flip phones. the reception isn't the best, it has shut off in the middle of calls, and has frozen before. overall, i'm happy with it.
