i can buy the black 3g 8gb model at n1wireless.com for about 450 and for 20 bucks i can get a warranty with it.

i might be able to get the same phone barely used from a friend for 250 but not sure if that will pan out.

I dont mind having edge instead of 3g and would even consider just using it with wifi.

Now i know some of you will say why dont you just buy an ipod touch? well the iphone does make a great phone even if its just for that and cant see my self carrying my samsung behold and ipod touch everywhere i go.

what do you guys think ?

I have a friend who bought my old 3G off of me in August and he's been loving it.

One caveat: You have to not care about updates. Simply because you aren't guaranteed that they'll work. As long as you're cool with the device in its current function and you'll just be pleasantly happy when you get updates from whichever jailbreak method you use, then I'd say go for it.

I have friend who is using a hacked iphone on T-mobile (my friend has an old, old contract where get unlimited calls for 50 USD a month)... he loves it. He said T mobile actually has a customer support specially for getting iphone's up and running on T mobile (lol).

I recently bought 3 iPhones (two 3G's, one 2G through Craigslist) for myself, my brother and sister and we are all on TMobile. So far it has worked out great!!! I even managed to get the $5.99 Tzones on all 3 iPhones. We're on a family plan and we're paying about $35 a month each. The only real things we are missing are 3G and visual voicemail and I'm ok with that, especially for $35.

as long as you dont mind the lack of 3G and visual voicemail, everything else is awesome. my brother and his wife had original iphones on tmobile for years, until they switched to att a few months ago for the 3GS. he said that they had no problems with using iphones with tmo and they were really helpful about getting the $5.99 t-zones plan for unlimited data too! 🙂
