Should i get a GF Ti200 or wait for NV25?

I'm thinking about getting a Ti200 at newegg for $157. But with the NV25 seeming just around the corner, i'm not sure i should. I currently have a GF 2 Pro Gainward golden style. It O/Cs past Ultra, so not too bad. What i want is better frames in Ghost Recon, i know it's a slow game, but i want it to be faster, does it scale better on a GF3? Also i heard RTCW is pretty good on a GF3 compared to GF2, how much more frames do you get with GF3? I also like to play Giants a lot, i'm pretty sure it gets a lot faster on GF3.

Also i play Homeworld Cataclysm and would like to use AA, but on the GF2, the text is blurry so it's kinda hard. How is the Quincunx and text? The Radeon seems to have better AA, but i swore never to touch a ATI product again. Also does Anisotropy (or whatever) make a nice difference? It seems special to the GF3.

But with the GF4? Seeming to come out in about 2 months, maybe i should save my $$ and get that?!?

Thanks for the input.

Ever thought about combining all of your "what should I get...." threads into a single one? LOL

Don't play any of the games you listed so I can't comment specifically about them. Quincunx is significantly more blurry then the SS AA used on the GF2, and also the blurriest FSAA implementation the GF3 allows for. Unfortunately the other pseudo multi-sampled AA options on the GF3 are also more blurry then the classic Super Sampling used on the GF2 for AA. Anisotropic filtering is in no way special to the GF3, it;s available on your current GF2 also, and many other graphics cards. Anisotropic filtering does improve the visual quality of AA quite a bit, unfortunately by enabling anisotropic filtering on the GF3 you will take a pretty hefty performance hit on top of that already seen by enabling AA.

As for the GF4, I wouldnt base my purchasing decisions on rumored specifications and rumored release dates. Buy now, you can wait for the GF4 but by the time it's released you'll likely find yourself asking whether you should wait for the GF5. ;)

You're saying you want to wait for a new video card to come out, to save money? Right...

you do realize that in march (if it comes out then) you'll be posting the exact same question except it will be
"Should i get an NV25 or wait for the NV30" or whatever is next. just get the ti 200 :)

Buy a Voodoo5 ;)
Unfortunately the now dead 3dfx still has the best AA implementation available in a consumer graphics card. A secondary option would be the ATi Radeon 8500. Providing your going the GF3 route then all I can suggest is make god use of the LOD slider and enable 64tap anisotropic filtering.

I've pretty much decided that I'm going to keep my Radeon 7200 (32DDR) until NV25 comes out. For the first time, nVidia will include iDCT support for improved DVD quality (as with NV17M), and according to FiringSquad, some board makers like LeadTek are using high-quality filters for superb 2D/3D quality. I guess at that point, I'll have little or no reason to stick with ATi.

Just get the Ti200, the MSI(DVI, no TV out) is $170 Retail at NewEgg, you will NOT be dissapointed.

BTW, (in this case clock speeds mean diddly) the GeForce3 Ti200 is a fair smack faster than the GeForce2 Ultra, plus the Ti200 supports Environmental Bump Mapping and Pixel Shading.

LOL.. Isn't that ALWAYS the case for all of us..? I'm an upgrade junkie -- I admit it and I can't help myself.. Do you think there is a PCUA (Personal Computer Upgrade Anonymous)..? :)

Yea, download NVmax (do a google search) and once installed, enable Anistropic Filtering (16 Tap or higher). That should clean up any blurry text with a minimal hit to performance. ;)

P.S. The GeForce2's are really horrible with their implementation of FSAA, I wouldn't try anything over 2x Quality.

I thought they were releasing the NV25 sooner as it's almost the same as xbox, but they seem to be sticking with their old plan. I guess i'm going for the Ti200 then.

RSI: I mean to save up money for the new card, not save money on teh new card.
