Should I Get A Gamecube?

The $100 Metroid bundle looks attractive. But I don't know much about the system. My brother got one when it came out, but we traded it to get an Xbox after a few months.

I'd like an Xbox, but we already have one at my parent's home so it seems wasteful to get one. That, and it's expensive.

Gamecube is looking good at $100. What are the prospects of this system (i.e. upcoming games and such)?

This is what it has:

Metroid Prime
Zelda: Wind Waker
Mario Kart: Double Dash
Animal Crossing
Smash Brothers Melee
Monkey Ball 1 & 2

Besides that, its ok at best. I would stick with the PS2 if I were you, better upcoming games.

i have a gamecube and i love it. Mario Kart is a great game to play with friends and zelda is a good time. bradruth is right eternal darkness is a great game!!!

The next, fully 3D, no more cell-shaded, Zelda game will be released for the Cube.. probabaly the only reason I'm keeping mine.

Eternal Darkness is worth the price of admission alone.

I was going to say that exact thing.

Eternal Darkness >>> any other game ever.
Skies of Arcadia is 2nd...also a Cubism.

Good system. Main reason I got mine was for Super Smash Bros. Unfortunately I have yet to find someone in my area who can beat me. Anyway, I say get one. I do have a used one for sale. REAL cheap. I'll even throw in a memory card and Bloodrayne!

I have a Gamecube and a PS2. I prefer the GCN. It gets way more playing time. It just depends on what games you want to play.

The quantity of GC games isn't there, but the QUALITY of the titles is much better. PS2 is like 70% crap and 30% decent games, where GC (with it's strict software controls) is like 70% decent and 30% crap. If you want multiplayer games, GC is where it's at 🙂

Just saw your post in FS/T, you aren't kidding that it's a good deal. Now I have to decide between your GC and a couple Nomad auction I'm watching on eBay. ARGGGHHH!! 😀

What? No one's bashing the GameCube as a kiddie system? What the hell is wrong with you guys? 😛

I'm just going to say that it has some great games and that was the motivation for me getting one.

I'd get the xbox for media center option ... but you're looking for something purely for games ... gamecube is not a bad choice ...

The Gamecube has quite a few very good games as well as upcoming ones that should rock. Let me see if I can build a list of the good exclusives:

Current:
Smash Bros Melee
F-Zero GX
Mario Kart: Double Dash
Metroid Prime
Resident Evil 1 remake
Resident Evil 0
Eternal Darkness
Zelda: Windwaker
Zelda: Four Swords possibly
-more depending on what you like and what I forgot

A few upcoming:
Zelda
Metroid Prime 2: Echoes
Resident Evil 4

Remember that non-exclusives are mostly irrelevant because you can get them on other systems.

I used to have one, but there just weren't enough games to keep me interested. I kept finding Xbox and PS2 stuff I liked better. I ended up selling it. Its still a good system though.

My Philips DVD player already does play all video formats: DivX, Xvid, you name it.

timesplitters 2 is badass. go for it, but remember that consoles are only fun if youre playing with 3 other friends.
