should i get a dvd burner?

is there really any point to getting these things, i dont plan to burn dvd's of my home movies. the only good use i cn see for a dvd burner is to burn illigal dvd movies and i dont plan to do that, i dont even have a source for dvds on the net. what are the benefits of having a dvd burner? i know i will probably get flamed for this so once u guys enlighten me on the subject where the frick can i get a blue dvd burner to match my case?

Think of it as an easier way to back up your data. Since, the price has come down on both burners and media DVD burners are now replacing CD burners. A lot more pratical to burn 2 DVDs than 12 CDs. Of course if you have no use for them then don't get one. Right now, CD burners have become what the floppy drive once was. I just upgraded my dvd burner today with a 16x +/- DL drive for $70 shipped. A year ago dvd burners cost $250 for just a 4x +/- model. That was cutting edge. Now, I'm just waiting for DL media to come down in price.
