Should I get a Bunny or Guinea Pig?

Derno. I've had a bunny once when I was 5, but my friend and I were checking out a free bunny and guinea pig the other day. They don't look in great shape, but we found a breeder with really cute guinea pigs. However I just found out they have bunnies....

If so what breed? If I get a bunny it'll probably be a small one, not the big breeds. As for guinea pigs, I think I would get American, but I'm not sure. Anyone with experience should feel free to recommend me to different breeds..

I've owned both! They are both fun in their own ways, if you can get a bunny that is holdible and doesn't have a love affair with wires he's worth his weight in gold ;)

Guinea Pigs are worth it for the squeeky sound they make.

GP are better than rabbit
rabbits get too big and can hop all over, GP's stay put, they won't climb more than 2-3 inches so they are easy to keep in a box, you don't need a lid

and rabbits chew wires

ughh rabbits kill the cages by chewing wires? maybe i didnt have my bunny long enough to remember (plus I was a little kid),

Yea GPs make noises.. the squeaking noise. My roommate gave her GP away last semester since she said it was too loud. But then again last semester housing was different, so maybe we can keep it in the kitchen this time and she won't mind. We'll see....

Guinea Pigs FTW! we have 2 guinea pigs, and a rabbit. The rabbit just sorta sits there, the guinea pigs are fun.

I think he meant, like, electrical cords and stuff.

Guinea Pig! I had a few of those when I was a kid. More personality than bunnies, and cute little fellows to boot.

Also, pictars.

Your best bet is to keep the animal at your friend's house and become its godfather or something. The little suckers poop. A lot.

Had a guinea pig named Charley for almost 5 years, I really liked him. They get excited to see you, the noises, he was soo cute. Would set him on my bed, he would burrow under the covers. One day, forgot, and left him there, came home after work, Oh crap........literally. LOL. It wasn't too bad, he was happy to see me. They do like to poop. What animal doesn't really.

Yeah rabbits do chew wires. I took care of one for a weekend and it chewed up some power cords down to the bare wire, and probably stopped when it got shocked or something. At least it didn't die, or else I'd have some explaining to do to the owner.

Rabbit: you don't need a cage; rabbits can easily be litter trained. (I have about 10 or so rabbits, but they're all outside in cages.. well, 10 or so are in cages... there are a lot of escapees that hop around the yard.)

Guinea pigs are pretty lame.

You're on the wrong side of the country for me to help you out... I'll be at a farm auction tomorrow. Last week, a few area breeders were dumping their excess animals that weren't "show quality" or whatever... Most were really cute! They'll be dumping them onto the market for the next 4 or 5 weeks here. Baby bunnies and guinea pigs at this time of year typically sell for between 25 cents each and $2 each; depending on how long the auction has been going when they get to them. Of course, they are sold by the box; so sometimes to get a particular one that you want, you end up buying 4 or 5... We did that a few times and just gave the extras to kids in the neighborhood. I'm hoping to get some rollers and tumblers tomorrow (pigeons that do weird things while flying), and perhaps some turkeys, goats, or whatever I find that I can't turn down for the price. Sometimes it's hard to resist, such as a beautiful bird cage with two young (3 months old at the most) cockatiels for $10. Other times, I've bought animals simply for the cage that they were in. Water bottles for rabbits run around a few dollars each... if someone crates up a rabbit and includes a water bottle and a bowl, then I jump all over it if it goes for under $2... I just let the rabbit run wild when I get home.

Its amazing where rabbits can get to when they're trying to get away from you, all the while they are leaving little cocoa puff sized droppings. Drunks with the munchies beware: if it smells kinda earthy, it ain't sugary goodness. The little poop machines seem to drop one every minute or so.

One I used to have loved to squeeze underneath the oven. The space was not much taller than its head. I have no idea how it got its body in there.
