I'm getting a new car in a few months, and I've been thinking of getting the new Z. Anyone have one or drive one? Also how long is the waiting list (I live in the NYC area)?

If you don't mind a two seater that's entirely freaking useless for carrying stuff around (ie, second car), yes get one. It's a hot piece of ass and you know that's true.

I believe the initial allocation has already been spoken for. Better get on line quick if you want to get one before next year...

If you gotta haul more than your friend and groceries, its definatly not the car for you.

if you solely base your car buying on the opinions of a computer nerd's forum, then you need more than help.

So I'm guessing you're saying its not OK to like cars and computers, ehh? I hope you know that more people talk about car specs then computers. Any car conversation lasts much longer than a computer one. But I guess you have to interact with actual people to realize that.

If you don't like it, Yugo somewhere else.

The questions isn't should you get a 350Z, but can you get a 350Z?
All the dealers around here are sold out on pre-orders until next year. I can't even get a freakin' test drive. :|

If you're thinking about one of the $30K+ models I'd go with one of the new Mustang Cobra's instead. You really can't beat a car with 390hp that runs mid 12's stock.

If you think I'd base a $30,000+ decision solely on the opinions of a computer forum, then you're the one that needs help. :p

If is going to be you only car then I think look for something else. The RX-8 is coming out around May. Is a 4 door (sort of) and has a small backseat. If its around 30K I think that might be a good alternative. Of course no one know how reliable the RENESIS engine is going to be.
Screw the 03 Cobra. I heard they are going for around 40K and is based on a 20 year old platform. Get a Corvette instead if buying in that price range.

LOL! NICE! :D

I don't know why everyone is saying, "if this is your only car, no". I'm buying a new car rather soon and the 350Z touring model in silverstone is my first pick. I'm a single guy, I have my own home, thus no roommates, and I buy few groceries. I just want a car that's fun to drive, and the 350Z touring 6spd is indeed fun.

I haul very little; may as well haul some ass...

The Z is a cool car, as long as you're not planning on driving it in the Winter! If you don't already have an SUV in your garage, you might want to think about getting an Audi TT Quattro or a BMW 330xi instead.

if you are indeed decided to get the 350z, go with the Base version ($27,000), the upper trims are overprice for the options you get. (imo)

or you can get the G35 sedan or the 6-spd Coupe coming out later.

I never really liked the design of the G35.. I know its based on the same platform, but for some reason I just don't think it looks as slick as the Z.
