Should I get a 22in LCD monitor for my 360?

I have an old Samsung 27in SDTV, and I'm finally started to feel like I should experience my 360 games (Halo3 🙂) in HD.

I can't afford anything over $250 bucks, so I can't get a nice, mid size HDTV, but I know that many people are happy playing their consoles on monitors.

I'm not sure if it's a good idea, since I most likely won't use the monitor for a PC. I have a laptop right now, and I haven't played any games on it since Civ4. Would there be a better alternative for less than $250?

You guys think I should buy one? If you do, maybe you could recommend one?

haha, you're pretty much in the boat I was in. I've got a 27inch Panasonic SDTV that I bought JUST before HDTV prices started coming down, and a 360... I went to a 20" Samsung Widescreen monitor for my computer and hooked up the 360 to that. No contest, the 360 really shines on a HD monitor... keep in mind you'll have to do something for your sound. Personally I just grabbed a pair of the Tritton AX360 headphones and I'm a very happy man.

What resolution do you run your 360 on modeps?
P.S. I'm in the same boat as well, 2 years ago I bought what has to be the last bulbous 35inch tv. Don't get me wrong, its got a good picture for analog, but it seriously protrudes more than 6 inches in the middle. Now I am wondering if I should use my 2005fpw or that, or buy a new HDTV.

I rarely ever use my 360 on my SDTV, my 22'' widescreen monitor simply blows it away.

For sound I use the stereo (red and white cables) -> 3.5mm adapter that came with the Microsoft VGA cable and plugged it into my Line-in port. Works like a fuggin charm 😀.

The closest resolution I could get to the native 1680x1050 is 1360x768. It's pretty shitty that 16:10 is not a supported format but it still looks beautiful on the monitor regardless.

I have Logitech x230's or whatever.. they work great.

Think I should get a monitor?
If I don't get a computer anyways, I suppose I have nothing much else to spend my money on...

I'm only reluctant because I don't know if I'll get good value out of a monitor if I'm basically only using it to play games on.
