Should i forego my 6-disc in dash for a single disc mp3?

While i absolutely LOVE my new car, it has its first problem.... CD's skip like crazy and on quiet classical cd's, i can hear a very audible "tsssssht.....tsssssht....tsht...."

I'm going to the dealer tommorow and she said she's heard of a few issues with the 6-disc in dash, so she would swap it for a brand new one....

I'm thinking i may ask if they can just replace the 6-disc with a single disc that can play mp3's, apparenly it works much better (from browsing the mazda forums)...

Think i should? I would assume the dealer wouldn't mind, the invoice of the 6-disc is $400 while the single-disc mp3 is only $260....

how is the interface with those mp3-CD players? since you can put 700MB worth of mp3's on a disc, navigation would probably be an issue.

I'm not sure how a factory CD-MP3 player would be, but my Pioneer just lets me navigate by folders and such...very straightforward.

I love my Mp3 CD player. Basically you can organize all your mp3s into folders and then skip through folders as well as through songs. It's very nice and the interface is easy to use.

MP3 CD players rock. You can fit more than 6 CDs on one disc. On mine there's two buttons that will move you up and down the different folders.

Yea, it takes me 2 full weeks to go through one CD now on the MP3 deck. As opposed to changing CD's everyday on my regular CD deck.

Navigation is pretty easy: Up and Down arrows to change folders, Left & Right arrows to change track

The only thing is some of my really old CDs, I burned using UDF format (DirectCD) and the player has trouble remembering the tracks. But I'm lucky my player can read it at all. It's not listed as a supported format. I have a panasonic c3300u
