Should I follow up on a call from a prospective employer?

So I applied for a summer internship (i'm a HS senior) and got a call from the employer as sort of a pre-screen thing. Should I sent an e-mail follow up just reiterating how much the job means to me and that any further contact is welcome? Keep in mind this is a hs internship kinda thing, not a professional job-type thing. Would such a follow up be seen as initiative and desirable in an employee, or would the employer just think I'm desperate and naggy?

I don't have an address, and mail doesn't run til Tuesday. I have his e-mail though....

How far should I go in saying I want the job? I know I would do the best job, but then again, so does everybody else.

Dont be all ass kissing but let him know you know what this company is about, where its headed and how you will be an asset to the company with his guidance.

Keep it clean cut, short and to the point basically dont waste his time.

Thank him / her for even considering you and make some mention of "looking forward to working with you"

Hmmm.. it's a summer internship. For like 10 weeks, so I don't know how important where the company is headed will be. I'm mainly talking about having motivation and stuff. Think as if you were hiring out of a group of high schoolers...

If you work for me for 10 years or 1 day it doesnt matter if the companies direction suffers because of you your gone instantly.

10 weeks you can really set the tone for future hs interns by not acting like a retarded hs kid. They dont want some kid who just wants to come jerk off all day they want someone there who will learn something and take advantage of a great opportunity. Not saying your retarded by any means but taking it seriously will easily set you apart. Pursue it like you would a real position offering you 50k a year out of high school.

Even though its an internship you bring fresh ideas and a fresh mind which when used correclty can be very effective. If I am going to bring in an intern I want someone who when they leave everyone is like "wow what potential that guy had" and other managers call me to say they were impressed.

3 words.. .. Letter of Reccomendation
