Should I finally eliminate a floppy drive?

I am starting to compile my new build, and I wonder how many have built without a floppy drive. Please reply with comments.

If YOU use one, install it.

Pretty much what Blain said.

I personally haven't had a floppy on my system in about eight years. Get a USB memory stick, set it up to be bootable and you're gtg.

I had this issue when I built my last system, but that was 3 years ago. I ended up skipping it and never had a single problem, and haven't had a single instance where I could have used one. CDs run from BIOS, so what's the need. Unless you need to write something, or need it for very specific technical applications.

My suggestion is to keep one "standard" floppy drive and cable around just in case. They're about ten dollars. It's easy to plug it in and dangle it from the computer case in an emergency. Don't count on a USB floppy drive for hard drive controller driver installation in XP and earlier, because the USB floppy drives don't always work for the OS install process.

now with usb sticks and mb support for booting em standard. no point. cheap usb mem + boot gparted/clonezilla and ur good to go
